MORE ELECTRIC ISLAND! CIVIC HOLIDAY EDITION

To add to this summer’s incredible mix of outdoor events, it’s time for another edition of Toronto’s premiere picnic and concert series, Electric Island! The party takes place Monday, August 1st at Hanlan’s Point and hosts a list of international and local artists spanning the deep house, tech house and techno genres in a scenic setting overlooking Lake Ontario and Toronto’s lovely skyscape.

Producer Paul Kalkbrenner has had a rich and remarkable career ranging from his start in Berlin techno in the 90s to performing live shows globally. His recent studio effort offers a blend of melodic, emotive techno composition and extends to a more experimental, dubby, layered sound. The industry veteran will headline the Island stage for a live performance. Guy Gerber has carved out a prolific and compelling career spanning deep house to tech house to techno along with his own imprint and party series, Rumors. Brazilian Gui Boratto’s productions offer a synth-centred rhythmic aesthetic while German duo Andhim bring their self-described ‘super house,’ a mix of groovy deep house and tech house. Highly talented and skilled, No.19 label boss Nitin will grace the stage with his house and techno, while locals Aaron Santos and Cosmic JD link up, with Toronto’s Borzoo rounding out the lineup.

Think of a picturesque venue with likeminded people dancing to a curated soundtrack, food, drink, space to roam with quality overall production, and you’ve got Electric Island. Organized by Platform, Embrace and Footwork, and enjoying it's fourth season, the Island parties have grown steadily while still retaining a home-grown feel. It's an exciting time in the industry where so many seasoned artists, who have been honing their craft for decades, are touring and producing. This lineup brings that level of artistry to Toronto for what promises to be another outstanding event.
